COPIC How did you become an illustrator?
Greta As a child I designed colourful dresses for my dolls, which my mum then sewed from fabric remnant. My dream was to become a well-known designer.
- During my studies I realised that the design process is followed by a long, and I think, boring process to the finished dress. Since then I focus on what I enjoy the most: fashion creation and illustration.
COPIC What defines a good illustration?
Greta An illustration has to tell me something with only a few lines and at first glance.
- This can be a strong feeling for colours and shapes, or an era and its culture. My sketches are supposed to create closeness and familiarity or curiosity for something new, something alien. I think those things are stronger when they are hand drawn illustrations, rather than digital work.
COPIC How do you create your illustrations?
- Greta For quick, hasty drafts, which only exist in my imagination, I use COPIC sketch. At the later stage I first use COPIC MULTILINER for outlines and texture. The colour is again done with COPIC sketch, which always inspire me with their variety of colours and fresh expressions. What I also like: the oval brush-like marker offers a great grip and can’t roll off the table.
